About 2048

2048 was created by Gabriele Cirulli in 2014 and released as an open-source web game. It became a viral internet sensation within days of launch. Slide numbered tiles on a 4×4 grid; when two tiles with the same number collide, they merge into one. The goal is to create a tile with the number 2048.

How to Play

  • Use Arrow Keys to slide all tiles in a direction
  • On mobile, swipe to move tiles
  • Tiles with the same number merge when they collide
  • A new tile (2 or 4) appears after every move
  • The game ends when no moves remain
  • Keep merging tiles to reach the 2048 tile and beyond!
